Call for Scary Stories!


  • Must be an Indigenous youth (aged 14 – 29) 

  • Must be following Bawaadan Collective on Instagram and Facebook (if you have  accounts)

  • Located in a Southern Ontario First Nation and/or urban centre (South of Rama)

  • Be affiliated with a youth group and/or program within your community/urban centre

  • Be able to support a partnership model. We will be requesting the group, program or community cover the costs of our accommodations for our stay during production 2-3 days (3 people)

  • Must commit to planning and leading a screening and share back for family and friends



  • 3 weekly Zoom video meetings to develop your scary story, and plan for production dates and time in your area

  • *A 3 day visit with cinema quality equipment, 2-3 support staff to film 

  • All post-production, editing, and music scoring duties


*During this uncertain time, we will ensure that we are taking all precautions with regards to personal health and safety (masks, sanitizer use). We will plan to visit the partner only when they deem it time to ensure a safe and deliberate visit


  1. Create - a short video or letter

  2. Introduce - yourself, your community, and tell us your scary story

  3. Send it along with a letter of support from your affiliated youth group/community program to : before July 31st 2020

The Bawaadan Collective and Finding Our Power Together are excited to partner to share this opportunity with everyone. The Bawaadan Collective is focused on adjusting current modes of storytelling, and to creating inclusive and mindful spaces that better represent Indigenous peoples. We would like to start with you! We are inviting you to share a scary story with us. The Collective will choose a submission and work to help you to produce your very own short horror film. 

Bawaadan Collective and Finding Our Power Together are comprised of a diverse and highly skilled artists and collaborators. Collectively we have over six decades of experience in community development, education, and child and youth work.
